birthday

guys, i had a great 27th birthday!!!!! Here's my list of reasons why :)

1. I got to talk to my family - mary, anne, joe, paul, mom, dad, grandpa

2. Charmizzle gave me a international calling card so my family could call the cell phone.

3. Rum and cokes just kept appearing on my table.

4. A German cooked me some Morrocan food.

5 My friend Kate showed up with presents... a wallet, drinking glasses for the house, prada face cream, hand softner stuff, beer (solimente uno), a cake with candles,

6. I got the package from my family and got to see their handwriting.

7. I talked to my friends - Julie, Tanya, Paul, Nolan, Crystal and Kristen

8. The day after my birthday, the kids parents surprised me with a birthday cake on the soccer field. it was really really nice.

being a woman

I hate PMS. I usually don't get it, but today, I have it. I am not feeling good about anything today. I just don't. I woke up feeling shitty, saw my friend, was supposed to go the the beach, but didn't. church was apparently cancelled today. I think they held it last night, the internet is again not working at the school, my house is a mess, but i don't want to clean, my face is broken out, blah blah, blah, i'm bored.

so, to make myself (and readers) feel better, here is a list of good things that have happened to me recently.

1. I found 20,000 colones (roughly $40) on the ground on Friday.

2. I found my friend I was supposed to go the the beach with at the internet bar, where I am sitting now.

3. My suitcase of non-stick pans and clothes will be here with in a week.

4. I am smart enough to get my lesson plans done in roughly 20 minutes.

5. I parked the bike in a place where the sun did not hit the seat, so when i went to ride it, it was not burning my legs.

6. I got an email from an old friend that made me smile.

7. The internet connection here works well enough for me to leave comments on my sisters' blogs.

8. Joe told me how to open the file for my W2's.

9. God loves me (this should have been number 1)

10. It is warm. I am looking out over the mountains and high tide, and 3 guys are simultaneously digging holes in the ground for no apparent reason.

11. I just spelled simultaneously right for the first time, and my friend Kate spelled it (S-t-i) lolol

12. I'm already feeling better.

13. All the other teachers at the school are stressing over examns which I don't have to give :)



now i'm laughing my ass off.

i'm going to be 27 in 15 days!!!!!

just to let everyone know, i represent. there are some ohio state fans staying at this little internet bar down the street from my house. they play euchre. they know i like michigan. they wrote 'go bucks' on the sign outside the bar. i erased the 'c' and only the 'c'. the point is that i want everyone walking by (and no one else will probably get this, but it does give me great satisfaction) to know that bucks are stupid and can't even spell their own nickname. so to say it again, go blue!!!!!

ha ha banks

so, 2 funny bank stories

1. i went to get some cash from a bank in Golfito across the bay. they asked me for my address... well, these things just dont really exist down here. i had to tell them that i lived 100 meters south of the BM (supermarket)in puerto jiminez and 2 houses west. i was using the sun as my guide. lolol

2. a banker stopped me on the street to inform me that i owed the bank 18,000 colones (roughly $36). he said i had to come into the bank and resolve the problem. well, come to find out, his dumb ass had reversed the 7 and the 9 in the computer, but the paper i signed had the lesser amount. he was trying to save his own ass, but i don´t see how i have to pay him back because he made a clerical error. it is not my problem. luckily he spoke english, cause i was not about to bend over and take it. when we asked what would happen if we they had shorted us money, would they stop us on the street to come in and give us the money, he just told us to go home. suckers... you can´t screw with my money!!!!!

anyways, the kids are hilarious here. i have 6. 3 are bilingual, 2 speak no spanish, and 1 speaks no english. it is a challenge, but fun. i am loving this, and learning so much spanish. i am also getting opportunities for other teaching jobs on my days off. as of now i´m only working MWF.

also, communication should be much easier soon cause i will actually have wireless at the school for free, and i can use my laptop.
